You got a tattoo! °❀⋆.ೃ࿔*:・
Everyone heals differently! This is what I recommend, but there may be products/techniques that work better for you. Here are the basics to get you started on your tattoo healing journey *ੈ✩‧₊˚
Second skin (aka Saniderm, tattooderm, Tegaderm, plastic bandage, etc.)
This is a sterile bandage that sticks to your non-tattooed skin. You wont always leave your appointment wearing second skin, but here's how to care for it if you do!

I typically recommend leaving the bandage on for 2-4 days.

During your healing process, you may notice a bubble of ink form under the bandage. This is plasma and excess ink, and is totally normal!
Remove bandage if:
-
You notice redness or irritation
-
If bandage leaks (If liquid can come out, bacteria can get in!)
-
The liquid inside dries
When you remove the bandage, do so in the shower. It'll make the whole process easier, and less messy.
Do your best to NOT peel the bandage from the tattoo.
Instead, pull a a corner from the tattoo, to stretch and release the bandage from your skin.

With second skin:
After removing your bandage, gently wash the tattoo with antibacterial, unscented soap to remove any excess ink, or adhesive left from the bandage. I typically recommend Dial Gold for washing your tattoo!
Keep your tattoo moisturized with a white unscented lotion, and do your best to ensure you aren't smothering the tattoo. Over moisturizing the skin can promote bacterial growth, which can lead to the tattoo healing poorly.
Healing Without second skin:
Clean your tattoo at least 2-3 times a day, for 4-7 days. Pat dry gently with a paper towel, and apply a thin layer of A&D ointment. After your tattoo starts to flake, switch to an unscented white lotion, like Lubriderm or Cetaphil.

If you work outside or with animals, you will need to wash your tattoo more often to keep it clean!
Wash your tattoo after every workout, or any excess sweating.
